Job Description
As a CG Generalist at our animatronics company, you will play a vital role in the creation and integration of computer-generated elements into our animatronics projects. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, designers, and fabricators to bring characters and environments to life, combining technical expertise with artistic sensibilities. This position requires proficiency in various aspects of CG production, including modeling, texturing, rigging, animation, and rendering.
Responsibilities
CG Production:
Create and manipulate 3D models, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
Develop high-quality textures and materials to enhance the realism of characters and environments.
Rig characters and assets for animation, ensuring smooth and natural movement.
Animate characters and objects to bring them to life, incorporating realistic behaviors and expressions.
Conduct lighting and rendering to achieve desired visual aesthetics.
Integration with Animatronics:
Collaborate closely with animatronics engineers and designers to integrate CG elements seamlessly into physical animatronic systems.
Ensure CG assets meet the technical requirements for physical integration, such as weight, size, and movement limitations.
Work with the fabrication team to ensure that CG elements are accurately represented in the final physical build.
Creative Collaboration:
Participate in concept development and pre-production meetings, providing input on the feasibility and visual direction of CG elements.
Collaborate with the design team to ensure that CG elements align with the overall creative vision of the project.
Actively contribute ideas and suggestions to enhance the visual quality and impact of animatronics experiences.
Quality Assurance:
Conduct rigorous testing and quality checks to ensure CG elements meet the highest standards of realism, functionality, and performance.
Identify and address any issues or discrepancies in CG assets, such as textures, geometry, or animations.
Continuously optimize and refine CG workflows and processes to improve efficiency and quality.
Documentation and Communication:
Maintain clear and organized documentation of CG assets, workflows, and technical specifications.
Collaborate with team members to ensure effective communication and coordination throughout the project lifecycle.
Present work and progress updates to internal stakeholders, incorporating feedback and revisions as needed.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Graphics, Animation, Visual Effects, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
Proven experience as a CG Generalist, Animator, or similar role in a creative production environment.
Proficiency in industry-standard CG software, such as Maya, 3ds Max, Blender, or equivalent.
Strong understanding of 3D modeling, texturing, rigging, animation, lighting, and rendering techniques.
Familiarity with integrating CG elements into physical environments or animatronics systems is a plus.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Flexibility to adapt to evolving project requirements and timelines.
